The Spirogyra Butterfly Garden seems a place designed for peace and relax as it is an amazing garden where butterflies from a large variety of species are raised. It is located right by the Simón Bolívar Zoo and it represents the forested side of the city of San José, also known as “green oasis”.

The families of farmers from remote villages work there and are involved in the raising and maintenance of these beautiful creatures. In the garden you will have the opportunity to stroll among hundreds of butterflies of all colours and sizes and see how they live in their natural habitat while learning everything about them.
The Spirogyra Butterfly Garden is an ecological corner of rich biodiversity, an exceptional and unique place in Costa Rica that you should not miss on your trip to San José. Besides, you will have the opportunity to buy butterfly pupae, an original souvenir from your visit.
