The Edificio Herdocia (Herdocia Building) is located next to the Central Post Office of Costa Rica, and it is characterised by its beautiful mauve colour and architecture. It is located on the corner between 2nd Street and 3rd Avenue.

It was opened in 1945 and takes the name of its first owner, Carmen Herdocia Rojas. This building is a work of the distinguished Catalan architect Luis Llach Llagostera. It blends harmoniously the Art Déco style and the neoclassical style, which makes it so singular. It is important to highlight its architectural characteristics such as its neoclassical façade with columns and capitals and its structure of concrete and brick. Inside it, there are two spiral staircases that lead to the fourth floor.

Herdocia Building is one of the most architecturally and historically valuable buildings and one of the most beautiful of the capital, so it was declared as a part of the historical and architectural heritage of Costa Rica in 2000.
