San Isidro is the charming and welcoming capital city of the canton with the same name. It is located in Heredia province, in a privileged and beautiful area: the Central Volcanic Mountain Range, which is packed with lush vegetation.

This city is one of the best options if you look for some relax and you want to stay away from the bustling capital city, San Jose. San Isidro offers a peaceful and calm rural setting. This haven of peace can be enjoyed through a horseback ride by the city’s surroundings to discover the beauty of its nature. There is also the possibility to visit one of the area’s most important archaeological sites: the remains of a former pre-Columbian church among which a stone-engraved ceremonial table stands out. Another interesting attraction is San Isidro de Heredia Parish, a beautiful building that you should not miss in your visit to San Isidro.

On the contrary, if you are looking for experiencing a thrilling adventure, you can always take a tour to Braulio Carrillo National Park and go deep into its exotic and lush vegetation, observe the wildlife that inhabits it, admire its amazing waterfalls, and visit the impressive Barva Volcano.
