Barva, one of the most charming and unique cities in the province of Heredia, was one of the first Spanish settlements, so that is why the Spanish touch is so tangible all along its colonial and simple style city streets. Nevertheless, the city maintains also its living Costa Rican essence, and some cases in point are the coffee crops and the handcrafted objects that decorate the city.

The city’s downtown is really impressive thanks in part to the two national monuments that it houses: the Central Park and a Baroque church, both of them located next to each other. Besides, Barva has lots of colonial houses that are considered to be interesting spots for tourist visits because of their beautiful colonial style.
Undoubtedly, Barva is the ideal place if you want to immerse yourself into the roots of the Hispanic habits of Costa Ricans and also to enjoy their delicious and natural products, like their coffee and vegetables.
