Costa Rica is different from its neighbouring countries: it is safer and more peaceful. It has a strong and consolidated democracy; there is not even Army!  It is simply considered to be one of the secure and pacific countries of America. This has been a benchmark for tourism: million of tourists visit Costa Rica every year and its inhabitants receive them respectfully. In addition, tourism is completely sustainable: it is ranked number one on the Environmental Performance Index of America.

The country’s capital city is San José, located at the geographic centre, in the Central Valley. The capital city is the political, economic, and social center, and it stands out due to its urban and cosmopolitan atmosphere. If you visit Costa Rica, you cannot miss San José’s oldtown. There you can find lots of important buildings, for example, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Costa Rica National Theater. There is nothing better to learn everything about the Costa Rican culture other than visiting the most important museums there, like the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum, the Costa Rica National Museum, and the Jade Museum; and taking a stroll by the most charming areas of the city: Amón Neighbourhood, the Central Market, and Ricardo Jiménez Boulevard.

The Caribbean Coast stands out because of its wonderful clearwater beachesPuerto Viejo is a unique place due to its ideal beaches for swimming and practising water sports (surf, diving…). Wild nature fills this area of the country with its impressive parks, such as Cahuita National Park, Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Reserve, La Amistad National Park, etc. These are green areas that you must experience, along with Tortuguero National Park, where it is possible to observe the wildest fauna composed, among other, by turtles and jaguars, while you enjoy the canals by boat.

Guanacaste is known for having Costa Rica’s best folklore and also the culture of the authentic sabanero; but also for its precious beaches: Tamarindo, Nosara, and Conchal, among many more. This province also has some national parks worthwhile visiting: Santa Rosa National Park, Bahía Junquillal Wildlife Reserve, etc.

On the other hand, in the Pacific Coast, the most tourist places are located in the province of Puntarenas. The amazing Costa Rican scenery  achieves its greatest splendour there, in Manuel Antonio and Carara National Parks. In its charming beaches it is possible to enjoy swimming and water sports: the best ones are UvitaLlorona and Sirena. In the South Pacific area, there are parks with huge ecological value, like Corcovado National Park and Dúrika Biological Reserve.

But there are more attractions in Costa Rica apart from the beaches. The country’s inland is full of true natural and cultural treasures. In the Northern Plains, particularly in the provinces of Heredia and Alajuela, cultural tourism, adventure sports and eco-friendly tourism are the real protagonists. Buildings like the Santo Cristo de la Agonía Church and the Immaculate Conception Church are the most representative symbols of these provinces; and the Volcán Poás National Park and Arenal Volcano National Park give you the chance to observe these two impressive active volcanoes and their natural setting.

The Central Valley, the other inland region of Costa Rica, is one of the most beautiful places of the country. What characterises this area is the peace and calm that reigns there, completely different to the capital hustle and bustle. There, it is possible to learn everything about the Costa Rican history and culture through its museums, for example in Elías Leiva Ethnographic Museum or the impressive one Guayabo National Monument, one of the world’s most important pre-Columbian archeological sites. There are also very valuable natural reserves like Los Quetzales National Park, where it is possible to observe a vast variety of birds. And if you are looking for an adrenaline rush, in this region a great variety of extreme sports, such as rafting or paragliding, are offered.

All in all, the best vacation of your life is waiting for you in Costa Rica. You will never forget the experience, which will be surely full of full of adventures, Caribbean tradition, history, charming beaches and the wildest nature of the world.
