Tivives beach is located in the Esparza canton, close to Bajamar Beach, in the Nicoya Gulf, in the southwest of Puntarenas and 8 km from Caldera harbor, in Costa Rica.

This amazing beach is spread throughout the Costa Rican shore for 3.6 km with abundant vegetation occupying its whole coast, and having diverse accommodation for tourists.

Thanks to the mouth of the Jesús María River, which takes place in this lovely, dark sand beach, a majestic mangrove ecosystem, designated as biological reserve, is formed.

Nevertheless, you should be careful in Tivives Beach, since its mouth originates strong currents and high waves, which are perfect for those experienced surfers that know how to make the most of these sea conditions. Swimmers could also be in danger due to the crocodiles that sometimes appear in the shore.

This beach also offers a myriad of supervised activities, such as tours in the channels of the mangrove, fishing or horseback rides, in addition to water sports that can be practiced taking the previously mentioned precautions, such as surf or swimming, amongst others.
