The Sierpe District, which takes its name from the well-known tributary of the Térraba river, is one of the most popular starting points to the most tourist areas in Costa Rica. It is placed in the confluence of the Térraba river with its tributary Sierpe, where it is formed the impressive wetland with more biodiversity in the world: the Térraba-Sierpe National Wetland.

The village of the same name, Sierpe, is the main entrance to the amazing Corcovado National Park and the Cano Island Biological Reserve; besides, it has one of the biggest mangroves in Latin America.

Finally, it should also be highlighted that, from here, you can visit Palmar and observe the popular pre-Columbian stone spheres, as well as get to know more about the history of the first settlers in the country.
