Playa Grande (Grande Beach) has turned into a model for surfers all over the world thanks to its sea currents, which create perfect waves for professional surfers. Water currents in Tamarindo Bay can be very dangerous, so it is not advisable for families due to its depth and strong sea currents.

Playa Grande is located in Las Baulas Marine National Park, and it can only be visited during the day, because the beach has turned into leatherback sea turtles and kemp’s ridley sea turtles nesting area; both species are protected and admired by locals.

Some of the most impressive natural landscapes of the area surround this beach, so you can discover Costa Rican wild greenery and its luxuriant mangroves and woods. There, you can go on a trip to discover the traditional essence of this natural area.

One of the features of this marvelous beach is its convenient location, since it is near one of the most tourist beaches, Playa Tamarindo Beach.

If you love nature or you are an experienced surfer, you cannot leave Costa Rica without visiting the incredible Playa Grande during your journey through Guanacaste.
