Playa Bajamar is located in the Garabito canton, between Tivives Beach and Guacalillo Beach, in the Puntarenas province, in the shore of the Central Pacific, an hour from San José and 30 min from Jacó.

This awesome, dark sand beach, which spreads over the Costa Rican shore, is surrounded by abundant vegetation that is formed by amazing tropical forests, mangroves and lagoons, where many birds make their nests, such as the popular scarlet macaw, a protected species.

Because of its closeness to the mouths of Grande de Tárcoles River and Jesús María River, swimmers must be careful, as there may be crocodiles which, sometimes, descend from these rivers towards the sea.

Nonetheless, this beautiful beach of blue and transparent waters is perfect for sunbathing while appreciating its impressive scenic beauty or practicing some of the numerous water sports that can be played there.
