This little city is one of the most visited tourist spots in the whole canton, as it frequently attracts foreign investment thanks to the proliferation of beach hotels, restaurants, condominiums, bars, shops, casinos and malls. Its economy is, thus, mainly focused on tourism. For this reason, its population increases in summer and during holidays, being national and international tourists who add the cosmopolitan allure to the atmosphere.

The climate of Jacó city is very similar to the one in the canton, with high and uniform temperatures and a distinctive tropical climate in very dry seasons -from the end of December to the beginning of April- and in very humid ones -from August to the beginning of December-.

Likewise, Jacó has numerous tourist attractions, such as the Rainforest Adventures Theme Park, recently included in the Top Ten of adventure travels of NatGeo, with its unique and sublime 4 km beach, one of the best beaches to surf in the country. Other popular spots are beaches such as Herradura Bay Beach, in the north, or Hermosa Beach. However, the closeness of Jacó to Carara National Park, a protected area that shows the true natural richness of the canton, is probably one of the main attractions of the city.
