If you decide to visit Sarchí, it is advisable to stop by Grecia and go for a walk to see its main tourist attractions, for example the extraordinary Iglesia de las Mercedes Church, a fin-de-siècle styled building, surprisingly built only with reddish metals. There is a precious altar inside the church which proves the Hispano-American devotion for the Baroque style. It is built of marble and rises up to the ceiling as if it was a wedding’s cake.

Just about a mile away from this small city’s downtown, on the road to Alajuela, it is located the World of Snakes (‘El Mundo de las Serpientes’), a zoo that houses 40 different snake species and where visitors are allowed to touch the non-venomous snake species.
