The Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto (Alejandro Morera Soto Stadium) is located at less than one mile away from Alajuela’s Central Park, nearly in the city’s old town.

It was inaugurated in 1942 and has capacity for 19000 people. It is the headquarters of the local soccer team “Liga Deportiva Alajuelense” (Alajuela’s Sport League), founded in 1919 and considered one of Costa Rica’s most renowned clubs. On their track record they have 27 national leagues and two CONCACAF cups. Among their players, the most outstanding one was one of Costa Rica’s most renowned sportsmen, Alejandro Morera Soto, to whom the stadium owes its name.
