The Cerro de la Muerte is a prominent hill that is part of the Talamanca mountain chain, in the central Costa Rican mountain range, between the villages Ojo de Agua (in the Cartago province) and La Muerte (in San José province). It is also known as “Cerro Buena Vista” and it has a height of 3491 m.

Likewise, you will be able to explore and know its particular flora and fauna. Some of the most practiced activities that attract lots of visitors are trekking, bird watching —especially the famous quetzal—, trout fishing and riding horses through its paths.

Temperatures are normally low throughout the year, without exceeding 12 ºC; for that reason, it is cold in these high mountains and it is therefore recommended to be well equipped on your visit.

Besides, this is the place that the pioneers of the Valle del General have traversed, and it is said that plenty of peasants have died there due to the extreme cold at night while trying to cross it.
