The Arenal Volcano occupies an area of 29850 acres divided between two different provinces, Alajuela and Guanacaste, north of the Tilaran Mountain Range.

The main tourist attraction inside the park is the selfsame Arenal Volcano, an immense volcanic cone that is still active; the eruptions are frequent, so it is visited by thousands of tourists every year. This volcano is an spectacular natural attraction.

Another of the attractive features of this park is the biodiversity that inhabits it. The exotic wildlife makes animal-watching (specially bird-watching) an attractive activity for bird lovers. Other attractions of this park are the beautiful landscapes, the unspoilt waterfalls and rivers, the thermal waters, and the enormous Arenal.

You can lodge inside the selfsame park for your visit to feel more comfortable. The park has recreational areas and diverse paths that lead to the most interesting spots and scenic views, like the Volcanic Cone Viewpoint and the Lava Viewpoint, from where it is possible to observe the volcano’s eruptions.

The best starting point for a visit to the Volcán Arenal National Park is La Fortuna, in the province of Alajuela. There you can book your tickets and go deep into this spectacular volcanic park.
